I don’t own this item, nor would I buy it; why buy it when with an S video cable and a y audio cable I can connect my labtop to any t.v. and save the $99? What’s the big fuss about? After hooking these two cables up (I leave them permenantly hooked up behind my t.v. and only have to “plug in” my labtop when I want to watch a Netflix instant play movie) I just press Function F4 or F5 on my keyboard and my computer’s image is sent to my t.v.’s corresponding input channel. Try the same and save yourself the $99!

It has been 2 weeks and I haven’t received my unit. Fedex lost the order 10 days ago and Roku will not send me a new unit until their claim with Fedex is filed. They took several days to respond to my email and each subsequent response takes two days. If they are this slow in responding to a sale, how will they be after they have your money? I have cancelled my order.

I ordered the product and then changed my mind about 2 hours later. There is NO way to cancel the order. I emailed, and heard back from the company the next day telling me they didn’t know who I was! Today I got an email telling me that the player is on the way… What horrible service.

I don’t own this product but another one from the same company – an Roku R1000 internet radio.
We loved the product while it worked but recently the power supply died after less than 2 years. Of course it’s out of warranty and the company won’t even respond to questions on how to send it for repair. Look at http://forums.rokulabs.com and you will find many other customers with exactly the same problem – some of them are now talking about filing a class action lawsuit. Although my experience was with their radio, not their videoplayer, ask yourself: Would you want to buy a product from a company which has a track record of selling a faulty product and not making amends to their customers?

I was very excited to learn about the Roku player and even more excited when it arrived. First I tried hooking it up via my wire network but it wouldn’t work as my network goes through a hub after the FIOS modem/router. Apparently (according to Roku support) the box must be hook directly to the router. I than went with my wireless network and hook-up was easy. Finally after going through several sign-up and log-on screens came the big disappoint, “Netflix View Instantly”. Don’t be fooled! this is not the Netflix selection you may be familiar with from the Netflix mail library. This selection is the dregs of Netflix. It consists mostly of old movies, movies you never heard of or movies that never made it. You’ll find that except for a few old classics most of the movies in this library have a rating of 3 stars or less. Instead of $9 a month you can find most of these throw-aways on your grocery store’s Redbox for $1 a piece. Roku does offer Amazon On Line movies as well. The current ones all cost $4-5 a piece which is no saving over Verizon’s On Demand system or your local video store. Amazon’s 99 cents selection is garbage you wouldn’t even pay the 99 cents. Save the $99investment you don’t need whatt his box has to offer/
